    Initial registration

Report on initial registration of Proteus Technologies Pty Ltd

TEQSA has determined, under subsection 21(1) of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011 (the TEQSA Act), that registration of Proteus Technologies Pty Ltd as a higher education provider be granted for a period of seven years to 27 April 2023 in the provider category of 'Higher Education Provider'.

TEQSA has, under subsection 32(1) of the TEQSA Act, imposed two conditions on the registration of Proteus Technologies Pty Ltd (trading as IKON Institute (IKON)) as a higher education provider.

    Condition 1:

Prior to enrolling students, IKON must provide to TEQSA details of its arrangements with The Resolution Institute, or an alternative appropriate independent third party that demonstrates it provides for students ready access for an external review of grievances consistent with the requirements of PRS 6.4.

    Condition 2:

Prior to enrolling students, IKON must provide to TEQSA details of its how its student service arrangements and Student Handbook clearly articulate academic language and learning support arrangements consistent with the requirements of PRS 6.5.

TEQSA has accredited, under section 49 of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011 (the TEQSA Act), the following higher education courses of study offered by Proteus Technologies Pty Ltd for a period of seven years until 27 April 2023:

    • Bachelor of Integrative Psychotherapy
    • Bachelor of Arts Psychotherapy

TEQSA has, under subsection 53(1) of the TEQSA Act, imposed one condition on the accreditation of the above courses of study.

    Condition 1:

Prior to enrolling students, IKON must provide TEQSA with a framework to guide and support Work Place Supervisors in undertaking student assessment to ensure consistent and appropriate assessment as required to PCAS 5.3.

The course accreditation covers delivery at all Australian sites.

    Main Reasons for Decision

As part of the initial registration process, TEQSA has assessed the registration and course accreditation for the Bachelor of Integrative Psychotherapy and Bachelor of Arts Psychotherapy submitted by Proteus Technologies Pty Ltd against the Threshold Standards for Provider Registration and Course Accreditation.

TEQSA considers that the decision to apply conditions to Proteus Technologies Pty Ltd's application for registration and accreditation is consistent with the basic principles for regulation in Part 2 of the TEQSA Act, as Proteus Technologies Pty Ltd is at risk of not complying with a number of the Threshold Standards. TEQSA considers that the risks of non-compliance with the Threshold Standards involve a number of matters that may affect Proteus Technologies Pty Ltd's capacity to manage and deliver its higher education awards.

    • The broad issues which relate to Proteus Technologies Pty Ltd's registration include:

      a) providing students ready access for an external review of grievances by an appropriate independent third party as required by PRS 6.4

      b) providing the necessary academic language and learning support arrangements as required by PRS 6.5.

    • The broad issues which relate to the Bachelor of Integrative Psychotherapy and Bachelor of Arts Psychotherapy include:
