Renewal of course accreditation

Report on renewal of accreditation of three higher education courses of study offered by Asia Pacific International College Pty Ltd

A delegate of TEQSA has renewed the accreditation, under section 56 of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011 (the TEQSA Act), of the following higher education courses of study offered by Asia Pacific International College Pty Ltd for a period of four years until 18 June 2019:

• Graduate Certificate in Project Management
• Graduate Diploma of Project Management
• Master of Business and Project Management

TEQSA has, under subsection 53(1) of the TEQSA Act, imposed one condition on the accreditation of the above courses of study.

Condition 1:

APIC is required by 31 March 2016 and 31 March 2017 to provide a report to TEQSA for the previous academic year for the Graduate Certificate in Project Management, the Graduate Diploma in Project Management and the Masters of Business and Project Management, with student data that includes:

1. Enrolments
2. Attrition
3. Progression
4. Completions

The data must be presented in a way that compares cohorts in Sydney and Melbourne, mode of study (face-to-face or online delivery), as well as comparing those international students admitted using IELTS testing with 'other forms of testing'. The two data reports must be accompanied by a review of the data and any management response which may be required.

TEQSA has, under subsection 53(1) of the TEQSA Act, imposed one condition on the accreditation of the Master of Business and Project Management only.

Condition 2:

APIC is required by 30 November 2015 to provide the following materials to TEQSA for the Masters of Business and Project Management only:

• The revised course outline which demonstrates:
  
  • alignment to APIC's graduate attributes; and
  • how the new units ensure course coherence by providing an updated course rationale and a mapping of unit learning outcomes to course learning outcomes.
  • subject outlines, for the new subjects only, including explanation of the proposed content and assessment tasks
• relevant assessment rubrics for all assessments in the new subjects

• information on any course transition arrangements that will need to be put in place for existing MBPM students (if applicable).

The course accreditation covers delivery at all Australian sites.

Main Reasons for the Decision

TEQSA considers that the decision to apply conditions to Asia Pacific International College's application for accreditation of three courses of study is consistent with the basic principles for regulation in Part 2 of the TEQSA Act.

The decisions are made on the basis that they are necessary to address the risk that the courses may not meet the following provisions of the Higher Education Standards Framework (Threshold Standards) 2011:

• Provider Course Accreditation Standard 1.7 relating to AQF specifications for course content; and
• Provider Course Accreditation Standard 5.6 relating to progression and completion data.
