Extension of accreditation period

Report on extension of accreditation of 13 higher education courses of study offered by Melbourne Polytechnic

On 18 August 2020, a delegate of TEQSA extended, under section 57A of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011 (TEQSA Act), the accreditation of the following courses offered by Melbourne Polytechnic:

• Associate Degree of Illustration from 29 November 2020 to 29 November 2023
• Associate Degree of Writing and Publishing from 29 November 2020 to 29 November 2023
• Bachelor of Illustration from 29 November 2020 to 29 November 2023
• Bachelor of Writing and Publishing from 29 November 2020 to 29 November 2023
• Graduate Certificate of Creative Industries from 5 February 2021 to 5 February 2024
• Graduate Diploma in Creative Industries from 5 February 2021 to 5 February 2024
• Master of Creative Industries from 5 February 2021 to 5 February 2024
• Master of Professional and Practicing Accounting from 28 February 2021 to 28 February 2024
• Graduate Diploma of Professional and Practicing Accounting from 28 February 2021 to 28 February 2024
• Associate Degree of Hospitality Management from 12 December 2021 to 12 December 2024
• Bachelor of Hospitality Management from 12 December 2021 to 12 December 2024
• Associate Degree of Music from 23 December 2022 to 23 December 2025
• Bachelor of Music from 23 December 2022 to 23 December 2025

Main reasons for the decision

TEQSA made this decision in order to reduce the administrative burden of regulation for the provider in response to COVID-19 and its impact on the higher education sector. This decision is consistent with the principles set out in TEQSA's policy on extensions to the period of provider registration or course accreditation, including an assessment of risks associated with the extension.
