Course accreditation
Report on accreditation of two higher education courses of study offered by LCI Melbourne Pty Ltd
On 12 September 2023, a delegate of TEQSA:
- accredited, under section 49 of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011 (TEQSA Act), the following courses offered by LCI Melbourne Pty Ltd, for a period of seven years until 12 September 2030:
- Bachelor of Entrepreneurship (Creative Industries)
- Associate Degree in Entrepreneurship (Creative Industries)
- imposed, under section 53 of the TEQSA Act, one condition on the accreditation of the Bachelor of Entrepreneurship (Creative Industries) and Associate Degree in Entrepreneurship (Creative Industries).
Condition 1: Course approval - academic processes
Prior to offering the courses or enrolment of students, LCI must provide to TEQSA:
- Report to Academic Board with revised course documentation for the accredited courses, including articulation pathways and exit awards. The report must include details of any additional learning resources required for LCI's commencement of course delivery in the new business management field of education.
- Minutes of the Academic Board meeting reporting consideration and approval of the report recommendations.
LCI must not commence course delivery until TEQSA notifies it that TEQSA is satisfied with LCI's academic processes for course design and approval.
Main reasons for the decision
TEQSA made these decisions in light of risks that the courses submitted by LCI Melbourne Pty Ltd may not meet, or continue to meet, the following provisions of the Higher Education Standards Framework (Threshold Standards) 2021:
- Standard 3.1.1 in relation to the course specifications of the nested courses, including structure, pathways and articulation arrangements.
- Standard 5.1.2 in relation to LCI's academic governance processes for course design, review and approval.
- Standard 5.1.3 in relation to the requirements for academic scrutiny of the courses of study for accreditation and for approval of course resourcing in a new field of education.
Application to withdraw conditions
In accordance with section 53 of the TEQSA Act, TEQSA may vary or revoke a condition imposed on the accreditation of a higher education course of study, either on its own initiative, or upon application by the provider for variation or revocation.
