On 16 December 2020, TEQSA authorised, under section 41 of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011 (TEQSA Act), SAE Institute Pty Limited to self-accredit its courses of study at Australian Qualification Framework levels 5, 6 and 7 in the following narrow fields of education:

  • 1001 Performing Arts
  • 1003 Visual Arts
  • 1005 Graphic and Design Studies
  • 1007 Communication and Media Studies
  • 1099 Other Creative Arts
  • 0201 Computer Science

Providers with authority to self-accredit nominated courses of study are not required to submit applications to TEQSA for accreditation or renewal of accreditation of courses within the scope of their authority to self-accredit.

TEQSA made this decision on the basis that it was satisfied that the application for self-accrediting authority in the narrow fields of education listed above by SAE Institute Pty Ltd meets the Criteria for Seeking Authority for Self-Accreditation of Courses of Study of the Higher Education Standards Framework (Threshold Standards) 2015.
