Renewal of registration

Report on renewal of registration of Victoria University

On 14 October 2020, TEQSA renewed, under section 36 of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011 (TEQSA Act), the registration of Victoria University in the category of Australian University, for a period of seven years until 14 October 2027.

Main reasons for the decision

TEQSA made this decision on the basis that it was satisfied that Victoria University continues to meet the Provider Registration and Course Accreditation Standards of the Higher Education Standards Framework (Threshold Standards) 2015.

In reaching the decision, TEQSA considered the major academic and organisational transformation that Victoria University has undergone with the VU Way, specifically the roll out of the Block Model. TEQSA acknowledges the considerable work Victoria University has undertaken to implement the new initiative so effectively, and looks forward to the outcomes of the next phase of development, including its external evaluation.

TEQSA found that Victoria University has demonstrated:

  1. robust execution of its mission of supporting the west of Melbourne, while serving communities across Australia and overseas
  2. strong support for non-traditional students, including comprehensive student progression and retention support, and
  3. strong leadership and consultation with all stakeholders throughout the VU Way reform process
